UKPSC Combined Civil/Upper Subordinate Examination is divided as per the selection process for the exam – Prelims and Mains. The UKPSC Prelims is the first stage of the exam and is qualifying in nature. Only those candidates who qualify the UKPSC PCS Prelims will be allowed to appear for the Mains exam. After the Mains is successfully completed, the candidates have to appear for the interview.
Following are the stages of examination
The Prelims syllabus of UKPSC has two papers, General Studies and General Aptitude. The Mains syllabus is however vast and needs a candidate’s deep understanding of every subject that is listed below.
The first round of the selection process is a preliminary exam. The exam has two papers viz., General Studies and General Aptitude. Each paper is of 150 marks. The duration of the exam is 2 hours. The qualified candidates will appear for the mains exam.

The second stage of the selection process is the mains exam. This is the merit-deciding stage of the UKPSC exam. Those who score more marks than the prelims cutoff are summoned for the Uttarakhand PCS mains exam. The mains exam has 7 papers. Candidates will get 3 hours to attempt each paper.
